A Perth-based motor trimming company has introduced an unique range of protective machine deals to the Queensland mining sector which are conserving a number of the state's largest organizations big bucks in replacement parts and precautionary maintenance costs.
Modern motor trimmers has invested over five years investigating and building a range of ram covers for trucks and excavators. The 'ripstop' PVC sleeves eliminate wear and tear, possibly tripling the life expectancy of ram seals and chroming, and also producing essential cost savings.

MMT managing director Garry Spouge said the covers give security against rocks, dirt and salt pitting the machinery's rods, which can lead to the tearing of ram seals. They have been developed to let easy self-installation by mechanics.
"Installing new ram seals can take several mechanics as much as half a day, and have clear safety outcomes, especially where cranes or cherry pickers are needed," he said.
"It's really a costly exercise regarding manpower and also with machinery getting down or out of use for several hours.
"That is the reason why we've developed our ram covers to be easily set up, they slip on and are safe either side by a patented clamp; the entire process usually takes about 45 minutes and can enhance the life of the rod and seals by two to three times.
"Since an excavator ram can cost in excessive amount of $50,000, the cost savings are very impressive, which describe why the demand for our covers is rapidly expanding."

"We're also doing work with a number of the larger miners to customized design preventative sleeves for other plant and machinery, and this bespoke, tailor-made service is a place which we will be looking to grow into in the future."
The research and designing work undertaken by MMT on the protective ram covers is an add-on to the company's core industry, which is centered on the supply, setting up and maintenance of premium suspension seats and seating products to the The Aussie outback mining, construction, engineering, developing and transport sectors.
